Senator Graham awarded Legislator of the Year

At the 34th annual Stand Up for Life march held on Saturday Senator Graham was presented with South Carolina Citizens for Life Legislator of the Year award for his work with the Unborn Victims of Violence Act.

Politicians attending the march was presidential candidates; Duncan Hunter and Jon Cox, Senator Lindsey Graham and Congressman Bob Inglis, State Senators Larry Groom and Mike Fair and State House member Skipper Perry. I would estimate the crowd to be around 750-1,000 people.

Senator John McCain - Qualified to be President?

I received this the other day and I want to throw it out here for discussion. The facts are true Sen. McCain was not born in the United States. Can someone define for me Natural Born Citizen?

Senator John McCain, like Governor Mitt Romney's father, George Romney, was not born in the United States.

Senator McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone (Coco Solo, Panama Canal Zone, August 29, 1936). Governor George Romney, who made an unsuccessful run for the presidency in 1964 was born in Chihuahua, Mexico.

While the legal question of being born outside the United States has never been fully settled as it relates to eligibility for national office, it does present an interesting legal question.

If elected, would Senator McCain be eligible and qualified to serve as President of the United States?

The special term "Natural-Born Citizen" is used in particular as a requirement for eligibility to serve as President or Vice President of the United States. Article II, Section 1, clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution states that:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

Don't buy the Motorola Q

Now that the election is over I have time to blog again. My first entry is going to be about the Motorola Q.

If anyone out there is thinking about buying I have some words of advice for you don't buy it. This has got to be the worst phone on the planet.

I will just give you a brief history of what has happened to me and I won't bore you with the hours I have spent getting help for this phone. When I bought the phone in July of this year I thought it was great. After about a week with the phone I started to notice all of it shortcomings. There are so many that I could right a book but I said I would be brief. The phone would mysteriously lock up when I would receive a call or whenever it felt like it. This would occur about 2-3 times a day. The only cure was to physically remove the battery, put it back in and then turn the phone back on again. That brings me to another problem with the Q. It takes about 35-40 seconds to boot up. During this time you are forced to watch the Verizion Wireless logo on the screen. Enjoy!@@@

Then there is the battery life of the Q, it lasts for about 6 hours without being plugged in. Oh but wait, you can buy the extended battery for about $55 and it will just make the phone bigger and you will get about 3 more hours of battery life. Now on to the fun part. I have had 3 Q's since they first came out. Each one of them either just stopped working on just died on me for no apparent reason. At least after the first one died I bought some backup software that cost be about $30. So every time one of my Q's dies I just plug it and all of my contacts etc come right back. That is one good thing about the Q.

I will also mention the video recorder and camera are nice on the phone along with the Windows media video player. It is also cool to be able to surf the internet whenever you want to. Motorola did come out with an update for the software which did seem to take care of the lockups and reboots. I would caution anyone from buying this and just go for the Treo or the real Blackberry.

More people to enter race for Verne Smith's senate seat

We have learned there are at least four names being floated around as possible contenders for Verne Smith's senate seat. There are a couple of good candidates from Greer and at least one from Traveler's Rest.
